Herb Plants

  • All the herb plants which we offer are grown here on the farm from propagation of our own stock, seeds purchased through seed companies, and those that are purchased as plugs from larger wholesale nurseries.
  • We have a NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets Nursery Growers License.
  • Availability of plant stock is subject to change as we receive orders.
  • Plant stock availability on the website will be updated every Monday.
  • At this time we do not offer shipping or delivery of potted plants.
  • Plant orders are available for pickup by appointment only on the farm or at farmers market after May 15th 2022.
  • We ask that all appointments please be made at least 3 days prior to the date of pickup.
  • In the case of crop failure for any plant ordered, we will refund the full price of the plant.
  • Once the plant is picked up we cannot accept returns/exchanges.

These are the following varieties of basil we carry in 3.5/4 inch pots:


African Blue - H: 3ft, W: N/A, Sun: Full, Zone: 9-11, Description: Young leaves are purple and fade to a dark green with purple veins. Plants produces spikes of pink/purple flowers. Use: Leaves can be used in cocktails and salads. Note: A cross between Camphor and Dark Opal Basil. Plants are deer resistant.


Cinnamon - H: 1-3 ft, W: N/A, Sun: Full, Zone: 10-11, Description: Bushy plant with smooth green leaves and purple stems/leaf veins that are spicy with an anise and cinnamon taste. Uses: Can be used in tea, desserts, Mexican food, and salads.


Genovese - H: 1-2 ft, W: 10-14 inches, Sun: Full, Zone: 10-11, Description: Bushy plant with crinkly green leaves with a strong stereotypical basil flavor, Uses: Leaves uses primary in cooking and for making pesto. Note: Heirloom variety from Italy with large amounts of vitamin A.


Genovese Red - H: 1-12 ft, W: 1 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: N/A, Description: Plants have large dark purple leaves and spikes of pink/purple flowers. Use: Leaves can be used the the same way as regular Genovese in any dish. Note: This plant is deer resistant, open pollinated variety, and slower to bolt than other varieties of basil.


Kapoor Tulsi - H: 1-2 ft, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 10, Description: Plants are bushy with light green fuzzy leaves and pink spikes of flowers. Use: Leaves have a spicy aroma with hint of coffee and chocolate, and can be used to make tea. Note: Plants are deer resistant and have been traditionally grown in India for centuries as a medicinal herb.


Lime - H: 1-2 ft, W: N/A, Sun: Full, Zone: 10-11, Description: Short busy plant with smooth green leaves that have a lime flavor. Uses: Leaves add a nice hint of lime to cocktails, fish, and salads. Note: Originally from Thailand and annual.


Mrs. Burns Lemon - H: 1-2 ft, W: N/A, Sun: Full, Zone: 10 -11, Description: Upright plant with smooth green leaves that have the aroma and taste of lemon and spikes of white flowers. Uses: Leaves can be used to season fish and poultry, as well as, salads and vinaigrette. Note: Plants are deer resistant and an heirloom variety.


Purple Ball - H: 1 ft., W: 1 ft., Sun; Full, Zone: N/A, Description: Compact plants with dark purple leaves and spikes of pink/purple flowers. Uses: Can be used the same way in any recipes that call for sweet basil. Note: Plants are deer resistant, drought tolerant, good for containers, and add a nice color to landscapes and gardens.


Spicy Globe - H: 8-14 inches, W: 1 ft., Sun: Full, Zone: 10 -11, Description: Compact mounding plant with flavorful and aromatic leaves. Uses: Leaves can be used dried or fresh in the place of sweet basil in recipes. Note: Plants are good for containers or small gardens, and deer resistant.


Sweet - H: 1-2 ft, W: 1-2  ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 10 -11 Description: Upright plants with bright green leaves that are very aromatic and white flower spikes. Uses: Leaves are very good for pesto and tomato dishes, as well as, cocktails and desserts. Note: Plants are open pollinated and deer resistant.


Sweet Thai - H: 1-2 ft, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 10-11, Description: Bushy plant with green/purple leaves that are spicy with an anise and clove flavor. Uses: Leaves can be used in curry and Thai cooking. Note: Good source of calcium and vitamins. Annual.

Flashback Mix - H: 1-2 ft, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Part to full, Zone: 2-11, Description: Succulent green leaves with daisy like flowers in a range of colors from from apricot to orange to peach with dark red undersides. Flower petals are edible and can be dried as well and added to salads, soups, stews, and tea. . Note: Also known as pot marigold. Annual, but will reseed themselves.

Atomic Snowflake - H: 1-2 ft, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 10, Description: Big, soft, fluffy, green leaves are freckled with white fleck have a beautiful lemon and rose scent. Uses: Leaves can be dried and used in potpourri. Note: Deer and drought resistant. Annual, but can be overwintered inside.


Charity - H: 2 ft, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 10, Description: Green and gold, maple shaped leaves that are rose scented. Uses: Flowers are good for cutting. Leaves can be dried and used to make potpourri as well as rose geranium jelly, sugar, sponge/angel food/pudding cake, tea biscuits, and alcohol rub. Note: Deer and drought resistant. Annual, but can over winter if brought into greenhouses or the house.

Lemon - H: 1-2 ft, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 10, Description: Small, green, crisp leaves with a lemon scent and small two-tone pink flowers. Old Fashion Rose - H: 2-3 ft, W: 1-3 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 10, Description: Leaves are green and maple shaped. Flowers are pink. Uses: Used commercially to produce rose geranium oil for foods, perfume and potpourri. Note: Annual, but can be overwintered indoors.
